About Iris

Audra-FarkalyIris has more than 10 years of industry and academic experience working with pluripotent stem cells. She supports ElevateBio’s efforts to generate clinical grade, human-induced pluripotent stem cells.

Prior to ElevateBio, Iris was responsible for establishing iPSC lines at Amgen.  As the scientist with the most PSC experience in her department, she was responsible for training staff on the maintenance, characterization and differentiation of iPSCs. In academia, she worked in George Daley’s lab at Children Hospital Boston and Harvard Stem Cell Institute core facility. During this time, she optimized culture conditions for hESCs and iPSCs and developed methods to differentiate these cells into hematopoietic lineages.  Iris transitioned into industry, taking a Scientist position at Advanced Cell Technology (which became Ocata and was then acquired by Astellas).  At ACT/Ocata, Iris was responsible for establishing iPSC lines using a variety of reprogramming techniques and establishing assays to release the Ocata hESC-RPE cell product.

Education & AccomplishmentsIris received her master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Delaware.
