Specialist II, Materials Planner

The Role:
Partnering with Technology Operations, Manufacturing, Procurement, Process Development, Warehousing, and Quality, this role is responsible for analyzing, influencing, and consolidating all demand signals into complete materials requirement plans for the site. This includes developing and maintaining material requirements and providing plans for raw materials supplied by external and internal vendors, intermediate products, and items produced internally by the site and communicating priorities through production schedules, supplier schedules, or pull mechanisms. Additionally, this role shall be accountable for coordinating and prioritizing activities to ensure on-time delivery, inspection, release, and availability of raw materials, as well as coordinating processes surrounding the routine review of inventory obsolescence and expiration.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
- Own and drive MRP for all raw materials to ensure material feasibility and availability in accordance with site inventory policies and production plans
- Proactively monitor and manage inventory levels, safety stock levels, and reorder points
- Collaborate with Master Data Manager, Tech Ops, and Manufacturing to ensure SAP data and functionality is appropriately configured to support material planning
- Coordinate with Warehouse and Quality department to ensure prioritization of material availability and release to support production requirements
- Define and manage Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for driving continuous improvements and action plans to achieve supply performance targets
- Actively support the S&OP process and escalate material requirement issues that may impact the overall supply plans
- Optimize required raw materials inventories and order quantity with the most economical costs of delivery, storage, and obsolescence
- Manage monthly review of inventory expiry and obsolescence reporting
- Provide material requirement forecasts to buyers and suppliers as appropriate
- Partner with Tech Ops and Quality to assess Supplier Change Notifications as well as support corrective actions related to suppliers and non-conforming materials
- Collaborate with Quality, Planning, Warehousing, and Finance on expired materials and manage monthly write-offs/disposal process
- Create and manage completion of change controls, deviations, and CAPAs related to raw materials as necessary
- Other duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements:
- BA/BS in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management, Engineering, or Sciences field
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in functions related to Supply Chain within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry
- APICS certification preferred
- Proficient and experienced with ERP systems (SAP Preferred). Proficient with MS Excel
- Experience with MRP and Inventory Control Systems
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks based on demand
- Problem solving ability in cross-functional and multi-cultural environment
- Highly organized with strong process/project management orientation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Demonstrates strong personal ethics and responsibility to purpose
- Proven strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
- Hands-on team player willing to work in an environment where individual initiative, accountability, and professional maturity are required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proven ability to exercise accurate judgment and evaluate critical information and decide upon and implement an appropriate course of action
The budgeted range for this position is $48/hour - $62/hour. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected hourly range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
