Senior Associate Scientist, Lead Development (Contractor)
The Role:
The Lead Development group at Life Edit discovers new genome editing systems and establishes new editing capabilities and optimizes them to support efforts developing curative gene editing therapies. We are looking for a Senior Associate Scientist (contractor role) to support the development of novel gene editing technologies by performing cell and molecular biology work including tissue culture, DNA isolation, cloning, and sequence analysis. This role will also provide administrative support to prepare, organize and track reagents and information in paper and digital format. This role has the potential to learn and perform additional science techniques according to interests and company needs.

- Evaluate and optimize Life Edit gene editing systems in mammalian cells to select optimal systems for further therapeutic discovery and development using established protocols
- Participation in any other cell biology or molecular biology tasks/experiments according to company needs including tissue culture, DNA cloning and sequence analysis
- Analyze experimental data and present scientific results at team research meetings
- Maintain reagent stocks, electronic inventory, and resource sharing for partnership projects
- Work collaboratively with operations and project management teams to prepare reagents and supporting documentation for international shipments to support ongoing partnership activities
- Generate, track and manage standing purchase orders for partnership projects
Requirements:
- Associate Scientist: Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 2+ years of experience in academic or biopharmaceutical organization
- Senior Associate Scientist: Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 5+ years of experience or master’s degree (0 years’ experience) in academic or biopharmaceutical organization
- Experience with basic molecular biology materials and techniques, such as plasmid DNA, mRNA and methods to produce and characterize these.
- Experience culturing, transfecting, and analyzing human primary cells or cell lines is preferred
- Experience maintaining and organizing ELN documentation
- Relevant technical skills for data analysis, DNA and protein sequence analysis, and presenting results.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
