Associate Manager, Lab Services

The Role:

ElevateBio is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Lab Services Associate Manager to join our Lab & Site Services Team. This position will oversee laboratory management services in support of all research, development, and GMP QC laboratory groups at our BaseCamp Waltham site. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency, safety, and overall success by working closely with laboratory groups, Facilities, IT, Quality, external vendors, and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily laboratory operations, continuous improvement efforts, and delivering exceptional customer service.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Team Leadership and Management:

• Supervise and mentor direct report(s) fostering team culture rooted in ElevateBio Core Values.
• Manage direct report(s) and external vendors to ensure execution and proper documentation of maintenance activities; preventative, corrective, and calibration.
• Formulate and track team goals, KPIs, and operational excellence metrics.

Collaboration and Customer Service:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Facilities, IT, Quality, and external vendors to deliver best in class laboratory services.
• Act as a liaison between laboratory groups and other departments to ensure alignment on operational needs and expectations.
• Lead regular meetings and communications with stakeholders to proactively address challenges, concerns, or opportunities for improvement.

Quality, Compliance, and Safety:

• Ensure laboratory operations are in full compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.
• Partner with Quality Assurance teams to maintain GMP compliance in lab activities.
• Own and drive change management and quality event records, as needed.

Operational Efficiency and Problem Solving:

• Oversee management of laboratory assets in computerized maintenance management system, Blue Mountain RAM.
• Collaborate with Legal, external vendors, and asset owners to negotiate, execute, renew, and track service agreements and related operational expenses.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to plan and execute maintenance activities accurately and on time.
• Identify opportunities for cost control, process improvements, and enhanced operational workflows.
• Ensure the optimal use of laboratory space, equipment, and resources to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
• Respond quickly and effectively to any issues or incidents affecting lab operations.
• Develop, review, revise, and implement laboratory operations SOPs and trainings, as applicable.

Requirements:

• Bachelor degree required.
• 5+ Years experience managing a laboratory in biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
• Experience in GMP biotech or pharmaceutical setting required.
• Strong understanding of laboratory operations, GMP regulations, and quality management systems.
• Demonstrates very strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and communicate with a wide array of personalities, job functions, and levels.
• Ability to effectively and efficiently identify and address opportunities for improvement.
